Grace to you and peace from God our Creator and the Lord Jesus Christ.
“Perfect People Not Required”. That’s what is on the t-shirts that the workers at St. Mark’s church fair wear. Those who call St. Mark’s home believe that all who enter the church doors are welcome. One of our strengths is greeting with warmth and openness all those who come seeking. We nurture each other in small groups: Altrua, Choir, Fair group, Liturgical Dance group, Prayer Shawl group, Study groups, Prayer time. Yet we are not allowed to become too comfortable in our pews. Pastor Bill consistently prods us to step out in mission to the community, to dance with our whole selves and not just from the waist down. We are involved in a number of programs and missions in an ongoing basis. Each project is important and is given a special time in the life of our church.
The MISSIONS include: Imagine No Malaria, Blessing of the Animals, A Booth at the Kittery Block Party, Footprints Food Pantry, Kittery Holiday Baskets, Military supported by prayers and packages, Mother’s Day Breakfast, Help a Local Family or Families at Christmas, Fuel and More, Prayer Circle, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Samaritan’s Purse Shoe boxes, End 68 Hours of Hunger, Sing at local senior housing, Souper Bowl, Table of Plenty.
St. Mark’s takes part in ecumenical services during lent, at Epiphany and other special services.
In 2016 St. Mark’s will celebrate 150 years of ministry. Stay tuned for special events to mark this significant time.
“For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children
of light - for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true. Try
to find out what is pleasing to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:8-10
As Children of the Light
We walk in the Light;
Let us transmit the Light
To all the World.
